On May 16, the first ZEISS Scholarship Award Ceremony was held in 301 Lecturing Hall of Yifu Biological Building. Teacher and student representatives from six universities and research institutes in Lanzhou participated in the event.

Li Jia, Dean of School of Life Sciences at Lanzhou University, gave a talk and read out the list of winners. He congratulated Hu Chong, a doctoral student in class 2015, on winning the first prize with 10,000 yuan. Fan Ligang, a doctoral student in class 2012, won the second prize with 5,000 yuan. Tao Chen, a doctoral student in class 2016, and Jiang Shengjing, a doctoral student in class 2013, won the third prize, each with a prize of 3,000 yuan.

Li Jia indicated that the scientific research of School of Life Science in recent years was fruitful. In the past two years, many high-level research papers have been published by teachers and students of our institute in top journals, such as Nature Plants, Cell Research, etc. These achievements came from the efforts of teachers and students, but also from the efforts of staff members of the Experimental Center of Life Science Research of our school. The establishment of the scholarships aimed to encourage teachers and students to achieve high-level and more innovative research.
