June 21, 2018, with the assistance and support of the Security Department of Lanzhou University, the School of Life Science launched a fire drill in front of Helan Hall, Yuzhong Campus. School leaders and staff, teachers of the experimental center, graduate students of the Drought Laboratory, and representatives of undergraduate students participated in the activities.

First, Xu Wenpeng, Vice Dean who is in charge of safety, emphasized the importance of laboratory safety to teachers and students. Then, engineer Yang Wenjun from Gansu Jindong Heng Fire Detection Co., Ltd. explained fire control knowledge to the teachers and students, by introducing in detail the different fire types, different fire extinguishers and the protocol of using a fire extinguisher. Next, the teachers and students practiced how to use a fire extinguisher.

During the activities, the participants not only were aware of the importance of fire safety, but also learned the skills of how to be calm when fire broke out.
